New innovation for the treatment of hypertrophic scar

Hypertrophic scarring (HS) is a common complication following burns, surgery and trauma. It does not only affect the appearance of scar tissue, but can also causes serious deformities and disabilities.

The "Smart Scar Care Pad" (SSCP) range is a newly invented silicone padding material. This material allows for the better control of hypertrophic scarring and Keloid scarring.

SSCP was invented by Professor Cecilia Li from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It consists of a layer of specially designed silicone rubber and a layer of specially formulated medical grade silicone gel.

When used in conjunction with pressure therapy and silicone therapy. "Smart Scar Care Pad" can evenly distribute pressure while reducing scar tension and prevent water loss. This greatly improves the apperance and thickness of scar tissue.

SSCP is conformable, durable and comfortable to wear and suitable for use under pressure garments or other elastic bandages.

Advantages and Features:

  • Double-layer design combines pressure therapy and silicone therapy on scars.
  • Various combinations of stud heights, stud diameters, gel layer thicknesses allow therapists’ to tailor their clinical decisions based on the patient.
  • The pads themselves can be trimmed to conform to different body contours (concave or convex surfaces)
  • Proven to have great outcomes in reducing pigmentation and vascularity, improving elasticity and preventing dehydration of scar tissue.
